Islay can be reached by ferry operated by Caledonian MacBrayne (www.calmac.co.uk ). The ferry from Kennacraig Tarbert Loch Fyne to Port Askaig or Port Ellen takes approx. 2hrs & 2hrs 20 min respectively. There are several daily crossings. Early booking is essential & advisable as ferries can be extremely busy at peak times.

From Port Askaig follow the signs for Bridgend & Bowmore. At Bridgend turn right & head for Port Charlotte passing Bruichladdich en route.

Once in Port Charlotte pass the Port Charlotte hotel on your left. Approx. 250 m beyond the hotel turn right at the sign to Kilchiaran. Follow road for 0.9 miles until you see 2 modern houses on your left. Turn left on to well maintained farm track An Innis is the second house 50 m from road end.

From Port Ellen follow signs for Bowmore & Bridgend at Bridgend turn left heading to Bruichladdich & then on to Port Charlotte.

Once in Port Charlotte pass the Port Charlotte hotel on your left. Approx. 250 m beyond the hotel turn right at the sign to Kilchiaran. Follow road for 0.9 miles until you see 2 modern houses on your left. Turn left on to well maintained farm track An Innis is the second house 50 m from road end.
